It's that that feeling of pump your fist in the air and say yes with like the whisper yell. That's a yes filled life. And the truth is to get to your yes filled life, it will require you to say no to some things. And so, as we dive into the content for this episode, just kind of laying that out there that sometimes we have to say no, to say yes. So today we're going to going to be diving into something every single leader needs to know. And that is how to stop energy leaks and drains so that you can lead with clarity, ease and impact. If you have ever felt exhausted by your business or your life, or if you feel like you're constantly carrying other people's energy, or maybe even feeling responsible for other people's emotions, this episode is for you.

Now, let's talk about the hidden energy drains that most leaders don't even realize are sabotaging their success, or at the very least, making success feel more difficult and heavier than it has to. If you have ever ended the day completely exhausted or drained. Even when you love what you do, that's not just the normal price of leadership. There's something wrong there. And the thing is, you are likely losing energy in ways you don't even realize. How do I know? Well, because I've been doing this work for many years and because I identify as a high achieving leader, just like you. Now, one of the other pieces of leadership that I'm going to be talking about, in addition to leading through energy first, is leading with intuition. The truth is, you are your highest authority, and you might need advice or someone to talk to about certain things in regard to your life or business.
Brenda 00:02:51 But at the end of the day, you truly know what's best for both you and your business, and when you can truly believe that and step into the intuition that you already have access to and amplify that intuition. Leadership starts to feel a lot easier. Why? Because you stop second guessing yourself. You stop overthinking, and you are actually plugging one of the most common energy leaks by stopping the overthinking and the second guessing. Well, let's. Before I get off on a tangent, let's let's dive in. I'm going to talk about the three most common energy leaks that I see intuitive and visionary leaders have, and will also talk about a solution for each. So the three most common energy leaks I see with visionary and intuitive high achieving leaders are number one decision fatigue. Number two energetic over giving. And number three, the always on trap. Okay. So let's talk about what each of those are. And then we'll dive into a solution. So for reason number one that you have an energy leak decision fatigue.
Brenda 00:04:08 It is actually one of the biggest and most common ways that leaders lose energy. Every single choice that you make pulls from your energy reserves. So if you imagine yourself as a battery and you have 100% capacity, every decision, big or small, takes just a little bit of that energy. Then you go to sleep, you rest, you recharge, you nourish your body with nutritious food and hydrating water, and then your battery hopefully gets filled up again the next day. But if you are making too many decisions, what can begin to happen is you actually are in an energy deficit, meaning you have spent more energy than you actually have, and then the normal things that would replenish your energy don't. And so that's when we start to see symptoms of burnout. Exhaustion. And that leads to being short with people that you love. It leads to taking things out on your team, or maybe not being able to hand things off to your team or hand them off at all. It leads to micromanaging behaviors and a whole host of other things.
Brenda 00:05:24 So and this is all caused just by decision fatigue, right? So in the last solo episode I did About Time blocking, which I'll link here in the show notes, because it's a really good one to think about, because when you can time block, you're actually cutting down on the decisions that you make. Why? Because you're not task switching all the time. So even if you apply this to your life in terms of maybe you meal plan on Sundays, for example, so that you're making all of the decisions about what you're going to eat on one day at one time. What that ends up doing is it frees you up from having to make that decision at the end of a long day. And don't underestimate the impact of even lightning one little piece of your load as far as a decision that you have to make. It's game changing and you can batch all kinds of tasks. You could batch laundry. You could batch laundry folding. You could batch your meal prep or meal planning. You can batch your errands.
Brenda 00:06:26 And then in the business, you can batch certain kinds of tasks together. You can batch checking email so that you only check at one time in the day. You check and respond to every email, and then you go on to the next task, whether that's responding to things that are coming through different messenger platforms on social media, for example, or through your your community portals. However that's happening for you. Batch those kind of tasks and you're going to be amazed at the impact it has on your decision fatigue. So I'm already talking about this, but the solution to decision fatigue in many cases is actually time blocking. And then there's this second piece of this which is intuitive decision making. So in my course which is now available Aligned Leadership Blueprint, I'm teaching leaders how to create energy rituals that simplify decision making so that you're not drained constantly by the choices that shouldn't be taking your energy. So not only are these energy rituals going to help you energetically, which is really the point of this whole course aligned leadership blueprint, but I'm also giving you some tactical, tactical and tangible ways that you can incorporate this into your daily life.
Brenda 00:07:47 Because let's face it, yes, we are energetic beings, but we're also energetic beings who need to keep house and need to put food on the table and need clean clothes. So the ways that we approach those things can have a huge impact on not only our energy, but on our intuition. Why? Because if you are going, going, going, going every minute, that constant motion oftentimes dulls your sense of intuition. It becomes so much harder to hear. Intuition requires a certain pace. It requires you to listen. And oftentimes that means slowing down, creating white space. And if you are exhausted from all of the things on your to do list and all of the decisions that you make, you are accidentally or inadvertently dulling your own intuitive access. Which is why this is so important. Because when you can make decisions from a place of intuition, you're also saving time, bandwidth and energy on the the no need for second guessing, the no need for overthinking. Because when you lead from intuition, you already know what the next thing to do is.
Brenda 00:09:08 Isn't that cool? So this leads us to energy leak number two that I see most commonly in visionary and intuitive leaders. It's energetic over giving. Leaders, especially leaders with deep intuition and high levels of empathy, tend to hold space for everyone all the time. And let's be clear this is an incredible gift, but it's also a massive energy leak if you don't know how to protect your own energetic field. So if you feel exhausted after team meetings or client calls, or even after just checking your messages, you are likely absorbing energy or emotions that aren't yours. So the solution here is to master the art of energetic boundaries. This means that you're going to need to set very clear working hours and also honoring them because, as you know, setting the boundary is only the first step. The most important step is holding the boundary. And that's where a lot of people get get things a little bit twisty. Is that holding the boundary thing? Sometimes it's easy to think that it's other people's responsibility to honor our boundaries when the truth is, if we're not going to hold our boundaries, why should they honor them? So I'm going to teach you inside the Aligned Leadership blueprint, how to create these energetic boundaries and how to hold them with a lot more ease and clarity by tapping into your own intuition.
Brenda 00:10:48 So the other thing that is really important for you as an intuitive and perhaps empathic visionary leader, is to create some kind of a ritual reset after you do certain kinds of tasks. So let's say, for example, that you are an exercise coach. How are you refueling yourself after you leave that exercise class? Are you taking a little break? Are you eating some protein? Are you drinking some water? How are you refueling yourself? If you're a sound healer or a breathwork facilitator after sessions with your clients? Are you creating some breathwork or some somatic practices of your own? Are you drinking plenty of water? Are you taking a break? Because if you're not, you are going to go into that energy deficit. And once you're in that energy deficit, it becomes even more difficult to come back to center. And when we're in an energy deficit, we cannot hear or see or however your intuition comes to you, we can't access the intuition when we're in an energy deficit, which is why this is absolutely essential for visionary and intuitive leaders.
Brenda 00:11:59 Now, the other thing that I want to invite you to do is to create rituals that are cord cutting rituals. Not once in a while, not like once a quarter or once a year. Know every single day. And more than that, every single time that you interact with your team, your clients, your patients, your students. How are you maintaining that energetic sovereignty? And that's a big part of what I'm going to be teaching in. The aligned leadership blueprint is all of those kinds of techniques and rituals so that you will, by the time you're done with that course, you will be able to do this on your own, and it will feel just like part of what you do every day, it will feel almost effortless. And the results and the benefits are found because you get to keep more of your precious energy. And that leads us to energy leak. Number three, the quote unquote always on end quote trap. So this is the trap that many, many, many leaders, especially as your business is beginning to grow and expand, fall into.
Brenda 00:13:08 And that's the trap where you feel like you have to be available 24 over seven, whether it's available to your team or your clients or your group coaching. And this is a huge energy leak. Constantly being on drains you. And it really taxes your nervous system because it trains your nervous system to be in a low level stress response all the time, meaning you're not able to get fully into that rest and digest state. And what have we already said, even in this episode, is that if you're not creating spaciousness and ease, your intuition doesn't speak to you as well. Whether your intuition speaks to you or you hear it or you feel it, or you see it or you know it, however your intuition comes through, if you're depleted and exhausted, you're not able to access that intuitive knowing. So being always on the always on trap leads to exhaustion. It leads to burnout. It leads to scattered thinking. And you know what? Scattered thinking leads to saying yes to more things that you don't actually want or have capacity to do.
Brenda 00:14:21 And so it becomes an even more vicious cycle. So if you're scattered thinking, then the next thing you know, you are agreeing to do more things which are adding to the problem of the energetic deficit. And so the so the solution is to create some boundaries around your time so that you can actually rest and recharge. You don't have to respond instantly to be an effective leader. You get to redefine how you hold space as a leader. Whether you're leading a huge team or you have no team and you're a solopreneur and you're just building your business. You don't have to take on the stress of the people that you're serving, whether those are your clients, your patients, your students, or your team. Number one, audit your energy and you need to really know what's fueling you and what's draining you. If you're not noticing and paying attention to the subtle things that are fueling you or depleting you, it becomes very difficult for you to make any changes. So that's step one you can use to fix this energy leak. Step two to is to set intentional boundaries. Now, I'm not just talking about time boundaries, although that's part of it. We're talking about energetic boundaries. What are you allowing in your space? What are you saying yes to? What do you need to say no to in order to lead more with more clarity? What are you saying yes to? That is energetically expensive.
Brenda 00:17:58 Perhaps more energy than you can afford. Are there places where you need to say no? Even if you've already agreed to something because you realize you don't have the energy, the bandwidth, or the resources to follow through in a way that's going to allow you to be energetically, energetically sovereign. So setting those intentional energy boundaries, and if you want to go deeper, you can go deeper with that. With me in Aligned Leadership Blueprint. And that leads us to step three.
