I'm your host, Brenda Winkle. Today on the podcast, I'm going to share nine ways that you can have a more joyful and ease filled holiday season so that you can have these tools in place in order to have the best holiday season ever, whether you celebrate or not. Now, before we dive into those, I want to give you a quick little update. I'm back in the Portland area, and I'm staying in this really cool little Airbnb near Multnomah Village in Portland. And this Airbnb is Really a community because there are three different Airbnb rentals on the property in addition to the host and a driveway space now on the driveway space, the current renters own a blue rehabbed school bus. They call them schoolies. I had dinner last night in the blue school bus with the buses. Owners Paul and Amy and Amy made a delicious soup for us.
Brenda 00:02:30 it was a squash with carrot and sweet potato soup. It was so good. And a beautiful green salad. And our host brought some brussel sprouts and I took some cookies. Some dates rolled in coconut and some grapes. And one of the other guests came and brought beautiful flowers. And it was just the most fun. And it was such a great reminder of how important community is and how important connection is. And I'm just having the best time here and I'm here for the next month. And so I'm just really excited and wanted to share this. It's so cool because I had wanted to grow some community in my full time travels, and because of my fast pace of travel, I wasn't really able to do that in a lot of ways. Although I did meet tons of people along the way. It wasn't a lot of time to develop relationships, and I'm having so much fun building relationships with the people here in my little Airbnb community. And, you know, we're going to play Scrabble tonight, and it just it feels so good.
Brenda 00:03:43 And when I think about what my yes, filled life really is, it's a yes filled life that permissions me to do the things I want to do. Now that where I have the freedom and expansion and capacity and availability and abundance to do the things that light me up, to do the things that feel really good, like building community. And I would be curious and I'd love to hear from you. What makes your yes filled life like what is it? Is it connection? Is it abundance? What is it that drives that inner? Yes. Is it freedom? Is it choice? I would just be so curious to know. Reach out on Instagram, DM me there and let me know. And I'm going to put Paul and Amy's YouTube channel in the show notes so you can see the inside of this blue school bus. You can see all the things that Paul has built, to be able to heat and run power in the school bus, which, I mean, it is a an engineering marvel.
Brenda 00:04:50 He's got four different ways to heat the bus. It's beautiful inside. They have a bedroom, a full bathroom, including a bathtub. In this bus they have a full kitchen, a stove, a refrigerator, a sink, a living room, And of course they have seat belts in some of the seats and the bus drives, and then they can park it and they have these thermal window coverings that they can put on the bus when they're parked. It is so cool. And they are just the most interesting and lovely people. Amy has a therapy practice and Paul is an accountant. And, you know, it's just so fun to meet people and to find out their lives. And our host, his name is Nate. we were talking to him last night and talking about how easily he seems to build relationships with people. And you know, how he knows so many interesting people. And he said, it's easy. Just say hello. And I thought to myself, oh, my gosh, those are words to live by.
Brenda 00:05:49 It's easy to meet people. Just say hello. So my invitation to you is, as the days grow shorter in the northern hemisphere and the nights grow longer and colder and darker, sometimes we really need connection. And so I would invite you to greet more people with a smile and a hello. Which leads me into nine ways to have a more joyful holiday season for everyone, including you. So we're going to start with number one. The number one. And these are not necessarily in any order. These are just nine things that you can do. And a lot of them are based in energy practices, but a lot of them are also based in what I've learned through my somatic coaching certification about nervous system regulation and creating safety in the body. And so here we go. Number one, manage your own energy. Now here's what I mean by that. You'll want to take care of yourself when you are rested and hydrated nourished and you've exercised. You feel better. You offer different things to people and you.
