What ice can teach us about risk
Feb 02, 2017What ice can teach us about risk
You know what happens when you put a can of soda in the freezer? Or if you fill a Mason jar with broth and put it in the freezer? You would THINK that since we use ice to reduce inflammation, that the liquid inside would begin to shrink. Instead, the opposite happens. As the liquid begins to freeze, it expands. In fact, the expanding ice will eventually break the container it’s in if the liquid completely fills the space allowed because of the expansion.
We have the same choice in our daily lives.
We can choose to shrink and play small – or we can choose to expand.
It can be scary to throw your heart over the bar and choose to expand in a new relationship, looking for a new job, making a change in our home or relationships, or trying something new. When we expand our lives we take risks. We “risk” being vulnerable and putting ourselves out there by trying new things or taking new chances. We “risk”other people knowing about our hopes and dreams, and perhaps not supporting them. And we “risk” someone really knowing us in our intimate relationships.
But are those risks as great as the risk of playing small?
When we play small we risk not speaking our truth, allowing others to know us, or pursuing things that will bring us joy. *That* seems like the real risk. When we don’t take risks because of fear of failure or judgment, the things we are missing out on is our own joy.
When we are in a state of joy, we are attracting more things into our lives that bring us joy. The more joy we feel, the more joy filled experiences we begin to have. The more joy-filled experiences we have, the more joy we feel. And this becomes a beautiful cycle of The Law of Attraction.
Try this today
Today, do something that brings you joy that feels a little risky. Have a conversation with someone at work you don’t usually talk with, smile at a stranger, confide in a trusted friend or lover, try something you’ve been interested in for a while, sign up for a class, or even try a new route to go home. You’ll be amazed at how you feel!
I’d love to know what happens when you try something a little risky. I hope you’ll leave some comments below. My mission is to spread love and light far and wide – and to teach people how to live spiritually in their every day lives. If you enjoyed it, please consider liking or sharing.
All my love,
