You have intuition. You've always had intuition. Trusting that? For most of us, that's been a journey.
There is an art to trusting your intuition. When you get there, you'll find that learning to trust that inner wisdom empowers you to make aligned decisions, honor your energy, and step fully into your YES.
Intuition is your soul’s way of guiding you toward what lights you up and away from what dims your energy. But in our busy world with so many demands on our attention and our time, it can feel difficult to access intuition, right?
In episode 164 of Your Yes Filled Life podcast, I guide you to three simple yet impactful ways you can bring your intuition to the forefront.
What Intuition Really Is
Intuition isn’t a mystical concept—it’s a natural connection to your higher self and the divine. Imagine it as a loving whisper nudging you toward the life you truly desire. Everyone has the ability to access this wisdom, but it takes practice, trust, and a willingness to slow down and listen.
Reflect for a moment: When have you ignored your intuition?
If you ignore intuition you probably find yourself saying, "I knew that would happen." or "I had a feeling..."
And when have you trusted it... I bet that you felt joy and ease. It may have also been inconvenient at the time, but ultimately you were likely on the right path, met the right person, bought the right house, were introduced to the right client, met the perfect collaborator, etc.
Energy Awareness
Your energy is a unique signature, and it influences every interaction and decision. As Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor’s experience in My Stroke of Insight reminds us, our energy profoundly shapes how we’re perceived and how we feel.
Managing energy starts with resourcing yourself:
- Hydration: Drink water throughout the day to support your body and spirit.
- Nutrition: Eat foods that fuel your energy, not deplete it.
- Movement: Move your body in ways that feel joyful.
- Connection: Surround yourself with uplifting people.
- Rest: Prioritize sleep—it’s a foundation for everything.
- Joyful Moments: Seek out what lights you up daily.
These practices aren’t luxuries; they’re necessities. They create the conditions for intuition to surface clearly.
The Power of White Space
Life’s noise can drown out the subtle signals of your inner voice. Creating "white space"—moments of stillness and presence—allows your intuition to emerge.
Here’s how:
- Dedicate five minutes daily to being fully present.
- Turn off distractions—no phone, no to-do lists, just you and your breath.
- Trust that clarity will come, even if it takes time.
Reducing Decision Fatigue
Decision fatigue is real, and it drains your energy. By creating systems and routines, you free up space for what truly matters:
- Turn off notifications to minimize distractions. Did you know that an interruption will cost you 23 minutes before you regain your focus? I'm betting that's not how you'd want to spend 23 minutes given the choice.
- Set boundaries around when and how you use your phone. Start your day creating, not consuming. It's better to leave the phone for later in the day and use those decisions on things that really matter.. conversations, connections and deep work.
- Automate repetitive tasks and save your mental energy for meaningful decisions. Creating routines and workflows can save you not only time, but decisions. By making fewer decisions you'll increase your bandwidth and your energy will be much more potent.
The less time you spend on small choices, the more energy you’ll have for the ones that align with your soul’s desires. You'll feel better, have more energy, and even reduce your stress.
Honoring Your Intuition in Relationships
Ignoring your intuition can leave you vulnerable, especially in relationships. Trusting your inner voice means honoring yourself enough to say no to what doesn’t feel aligned and yes to what does—even if it feels unfamiliar or scary.
