A simple way to change your day
May 07, 2017Do you need a way to change your day?
So you need a way to change your day. Well…. Perspective is everything.
Let me ask you… Are you a person that treats your lawn for dandelions? Some of us have to because of the expectations of our homeowner’s association or our neighbors. There are so many products on the market to treat for dandelions and you can even buy tools specifically designed to pull them out. And yet….
They are really lovely little flowers. After they fade from their yellow glory, they turn into magical wish-makers. Just ask any kid who’s ever blown away the puff of dandelion seeds. Maybe that kid was you!
As you probably know, I’m a public school music teacher. This week, I’ve made it a point to walk on the track out on the playground over my lunch. I have seen such beautiful dandelion creations!! My daily walks have taken me by dandelion pyramids, dandelions decorating the bases of lamps, dandelion trails (think breadcrumbs) and the two beautiful dandelion ornaments in the photo above. You know what the base of those ornaments is? Pinecones!! How creative was that?!?
As adults, we spend a lot of time, energy and money getting rid of the little yellow flowers we call weeds. But kids think they are beautiful. I can’t tell you how many dandelion bouquets I’ve received over the years. Kids don’t care that the dandelions are weeds. Kids think they are lovely little yellow flowers and don’t care that we try to pull them or treat them with chemicals. Dandelions are still beautiful to kids.
Its the same in our lives. We have things in our lives that we think are weeds: the house we have to take care of, the bills we have to pay, the job schedule that means we can’t do something we were invited to do, the relationship that went south, etc.
We need a perspective change
We just need a perspective change! We can find the beauty in our own lives just like the kids find beauty in a dandelion. That house we feel overwhelmed by? We have the opportunity to create a home. Those bills we have to pay mean we have warm/cool homes with running water, a privilege only a percentage of the world enjoys. The job that means we can’t do things pays the bills and buys our food. That relationship that went south opened up time for new and wonderful friendships to emerge.
How can you change your own perceptive on the things you are feeling bugged by or feeling sadly/badly about? It’s so easy!! Gratitude.
Why gratitude works
Being grateful will change your perspective in an instant. You shift your vibration from negativity to positivity. By changing how you feel when you express gratitude, you can begin to shift how you think. That shift in thinking will begin to change what experiences come into your life. Your experiences will match the things you are grateful for. In other words, you’ll pull more of what you are grateful for into your life through the Law of Attraction. It’s awesome and amazing! And it works every single time.
Look around you right now. What can you be grateful for? I’d love for your to share with us! Your gratitude helps us grow our own gratitude muscle. And your gratitude will absolutely change your own experience in positive ways we can’t yet predict.
Learning to flex our gratitude muscles will be a big part of Soul Food, the monthly subscription that goes live in just about 3 weeks! Check out the link the bottom of this page to see if it’s for you.
My gratitude to you for being with me on this journey. And big love to you!! Love this post? Please consider sharing it.
All my love,
Brenda
